Introduction to Print Processes |
|
Print Processes CardsPlus is at the forefront of new technology standards allowing clients the finest alternative to high cost low quality solutions. By using a combination of digital offset, retransfer and lithography printing, CardsPlus has the technology available best suited for any print run.
The below print processes are used to complete our custom printed card orders:
| Retransfer Printing - Similar to the Direct-to-Card, Retransfer printing prints using dye sublimation and an YMCK print process however, instead of printing directly onto the card, the colour is built, in reverse, onto an environmentally friendly PET (polyester) film which is then heat adhered to the card. This method of printing provides a “full bleed” or “over-the-edge” printing capabilities and bright professional imaging. The added PET film increases the card’s durability and life-span . |
| | | | | | Digital Offset Printing - Newest to the CardsPlus offerings is the perfect combination of digital printing and offset printing. Using a large digital press, sheets of plastic are printed, laminated and die cut. There are no plates involved in this method and cards can be immediately personalised. Using a six colour process, imaging is brighter and clearer than before! Unlike Lithography offset printing, colour variation between cards is virtually non-existent. | | | | Lithography Offset Printing - Using a traditional printing press, sheets of plastic are printed, laminated and die cut. Large plates are created to direct the ink to the various required parts of the card design. Ink adheres to the plastic using the same principle that water and oil cannot mix. This method is most economical when printing 1 000 or more of the same card. | | | | | |
| Direct-to-Card - This process prints directly onto the surface of the card using dye sublimation. Dye sublimation is a process of converting the dye or ink from a solid state into a gaseous state back into a solid state. The colour in the required design is built from the colours Yellow, Cyan, Magenta and black. This is called an YMCK or CYMK colour build. | | | | Thermal Print - By using a black or white resin or wax ribbon, thermal printing can produce incredibly crisp text and numbering. This is ideal for personalising pre-printed offset cards as it is an inexpensive process with ideal print results.
