What does this mean?

Datacard has upgraded it's ribbon technology to enhance the performance of your supplies. In order for the new and improved supplies to work in your machine, you will need a firmware update.

Why do I need this upgrade?

The RFID tags used in all ribbons for Datacard desktop plastic card printers are entering their end of life phase. The new RFID technology has already been introduced in the new SD series. The new RFID tags will be rolled out in all new ribbons for Datacard.

When will I need this upgrade?

You will need to upgrade your firmware before the end of 2011. We recommend contacting us right away to avoid the end of year rush!

When will my old supplies stop working?

Your old supplies will not stop working. You can use the old ribbons until your inventory is exhausted.

Where can I get my firmware upgrade?

You can either upgrade your firmware yourself, or a CardsPlus representative can do it for you.

How much will this cost me?

It is a FREE service offered by CardsPlus.

Can I upgrade my firmware by myself?

Should the power dip, or connectivity be lost, your printer can become corrupt and non-bootable. We recommend calling a professional to update your firmware.

Will the new ribbons work in a printer that hasn't been upgraded?

No, only the old ribbons will work in a printer that has not been upgraded.
